Yo.
Glad to see you're participating this year too. I must admit that your story really blew my mind. But I'll talk about it later in my comment.
I like
- Simple but effective gameplay.
- I don't usually like first-person perspective, but I think it really emphasized the point.
- The story is short but quite intense. The theme really touched me thanks to the character's brief description. His hopes, his dreams, his obligations, his choices, and his destiny. All of this in very few lines. Everything is said with very little. And the ending hurt quite a bit when you consider his initial aspirations. I really liked it.
- The artistic direction is original. The setting is minimalist but it totally works. And the soundtrack is perfect for its medium. I don't know about the others, but you really conveyed something to me through your project.
Like Less
-The character model goes a little crazy when you leave it running. Same goes for the scenery, where after a while you end up outside the vessel.
- The fact that you have to realize for yourself that a mini-game is over to restart the conversation.
In general, I would have said that your game is very short. But in a way, the format helps emphasize the fact that it's an intense and traumatic experience. The first-person perspective allows you to put yourself in the mother's shoes. For some, it's having a POV of her womb; for me, it was more about partially taking a seat in her life and her fears. I wouldn't say the game is perfect either, but for me, it's a work of art. I think it can have its audience, but it can also have its detractors.
Thank you so much for this experience, which places us in the less "magnificent" aspect of motherhood. We too often forget, but it was a very difficult choice that would last until the end of her life. And she herself would be haunted by these choices. I applaud the achievement and will keep an eye on the next ones. Thank you for this beautiful project and good work.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I truly admire your passion for testing each game and writing such an in-depth review.
I'm so glad the story impacted you that much.
I hope to see you next year.
And who knows, maybe I can develop something before the next jam.
